The following configuration shows the minimum hardware requirements that must be fulfilled in order to be enabled to work with the software.
Warning
The software does not run on Linux and macOS (Apple) operating systems.
Irrespective of the following minimum requirements, TachoScan will not be supported on the systems: Windows® and SQL Server™, for which Microsoft® will terminate technical support.
Computer operating as a client
- operating system: Windows® 10, Windows® 11, Windows Server® 2008 R1 SP-2, Windows Server® 2008 R2 SP-1, Windows Server® 2012, Windows Server® 2012 R2;
+ for each system, all available updates from Windows® Update; - Internet Explorer® version 8 or later;
- processor 1.5 GHz;
- minimum 512 MB of available RAM main memory;
- depending on the number of installed modules, approx. 2 GB of free disk space;
- minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 768;
- database connected to Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2012 or later on a computer working as a server;
- during the first start-up, the following will be installed by default:
- Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2017 Express for Windows® 8.1, Windows Server® 2012, Windows Server® 2012 R2 operating system;
- Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2019 Express for Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 operating system;
- date format in the regional settings of the system must be the same on all work stations, including the computer operating as a server;
- scanner for disc scanning, supporting 300 dpi scanning resolution, black & white (1 bit – black & white) color mode, black background for a document area and a TWAIN driver,
(recommended scanner models: Canon LiDE 70, LiDE 100, 110, 200 or LiDE 210, Plustek SmartOffice PS283); - reader for reading digital driver cards meeting the requirements: support of protocols T=0, T=1, clock frequency 4 MHz or higher, support of ISO 7816 and EMV 2000 Level 1 processor cards, compliance with ISO 7816 requirements, ID-1 card format (Full Size), PC/SC and CT-API compatibility or TachoReader Combo Plus device,
(recommended models of card readers: Omnikey 3121 (USB), Omnikey 4040 Mobile (PCMCIA), Omnikey 4321 Mobile (ExpressCard 54), SCR 3310 (USB), SCR 243 (PCMCIA), SCR 3340 (ExpressCard 54), - one of the devices for reading data from the digital tachograph: TachoReaderBasic, TachoReader Combo Plus, TachoUSB or TachoBlue.
Computer operating as a server
- operating system: Windows® 10, Windows® 11 Windows Server® 2008 R1 SP-2, Windows Server® 2008 R2 SP-1, Windows Server® 2012, Windows Server® 2012 R2;
+ for each system, all available updates from Windows® Update; - Internet Explorer® version 8 or later;
- processor 2 GHz (multi-core system recommended);
- sum of all cores in a single and multiprocessor system must be a power of 2 – e.g.: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc.;
- free disk space: 4.2 GB (depending on the amount of data entered);
- minimum 512 MB of available RAM main memory (minimum 1GB recommended);
- USB port – for the USB license key;
- minimum screen resolution of 1280 x 768;
- date format in the regional settings of the system must be the same on all work stations, including the computer operating as a server;
- for the installation of the software server it is required to log in to an account with administrative authorizations in the operating system;
- server name:
- user name must not be the same as the computer name;
- first character must be a letter as defined in the Unicode 2.0 standard including the Latin letters ‘a’ to ‘z’ and ‘A’ to ‘Z’
- subsequent characters:
- letters defined in the Unicode 2.0 standard;
- digits from the Latin alphabet;
- spaces and special characters are not permitted (e.g. ‘-’, ‘@’, ‘#’, ‘$’);
- name of the computer on which the TachoScan database is installed cannot be changed.
During the first start-up, the database server is installed:
- Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2017 Express for Windows® 8.1, Windows Server® 2012, Windows Server® 2012 R2 operating system;
- Microsoft® SQL Server™ 2019 Express for Windows® 10 and Windows® 11 operating system.
Limitations of SQL Server® 2017 express database:
- support for a single physical processor;
- 1410 MB of RAM main memory;
- database size: 10 GB.
If the maximum database size (10GB) is insufficient, it is necessary to purchase the latest commercial version of Microsoft® SQL Server®
A restart of the computer may be required during the installation. In this case, the installer will automatically resume the installation process after the system restarts.
